Look Good Travelling

Frequent Flying:
Skin care gurus regard inflight environments one of the worst you could subject your skin to.... here are a few tips to minimise the damage to your looks! Before taking off, keep it as natural as you can stand. A light tinted moisturiser, light non-waterproof eye makeup and a moisturising lipstick/balm/gloss should do the trick. Wear freshly washed hair and a scented body lotion in place of heavy perfumes. In flight, keep it simple. Avoiding products you haven't used before is a good idea. Remove any makeup on take off, and while it is tempting to lather yourself with the heaviest moisturiser to counter the dehydration factor.... it can leave you with an unwanted load of bumps and breakouts on landing. The skin can only absorb so much but it is a common mistake many travellers make!Your inflgiht essentials kit should include

  1. Eye drops... eyes can become easily dehydrated and irritated when flying.

  2. Makeup remover wipes

  3. A tried and tested eye cream that can counter fine lines and puffiness on touch down

  4. A tried and tested moisturiser

  5. A light scented perfumed body/hand cream (check out our range of "Everything Balms" that have extra aromatherapy benefits)

  6. Lip Balm 7. A moisturising mask... an optional treat but hey you have a bit of time on your hands!Make sure you are aware of international inflight liquid, gels and aerosol restrictions and comply with them! We wouldn't want you to have your liquid gold confiscated!

    Holiday Destination: Beach
Pack sunblock, sunblock and sunblock! It's a drag but you know you need it. Check out Kinesys if you hate applying sunscreen.... it's quick, easy to apply and you won't even know you have it on. Don't bother packing foundation... you will have your own chilled out glow. A tinted moisturiser, blush, gloss or lipstick and as little eye make up as you can stand. Obvious make up in tropical environments just looks wrong. If having gorgeous pale porcelain skin isn't your thing you'll want to fake-tan yourself before you leave, just remember salt water and chlorinated pools are really harsh on fake tans, so be sure to pack a top-up tanning product, moisturiser and some kind of exfoliator.

    Holiday Destination: Ski
Moisturising sunblocks & lip balms, and rich face moisturisers should be the first thing to go in your beauty kit. Go for pale lip colours and really minimal relaxed make up. Beware of the "raccoon" look... both in the eye-goggle tan and in the running eye make up sense. If you can't live without eye make up, make sure it has waterproof staying power.

Holiday Destination: Nowhere and Everywhere (ie Backpacking)
Space is of the essence, but there is no need to leave your glamour self at home. Multitasking products will be your friend. Eyeliners in a few different colours take up no room and can be used to create a multitude of different looks (Mac Rosemary & Thyme is a tried and tested fave). Try smudging the eyeliner on your fingertip and then applying the colour onto your lids instead of packing eyeshadows and brushes.Tidy eyebrows give you a polished finish with less make up so tweezers are definitely a must pack!Keeping your locks groomed will help you look a little civilised when you feel like you're not, so pack a (dual voltage) hairdryer and/or straightner if you can squeeze one in!

    Holiday Destination: City
Bring it all! you will probably have more time than usual to get ready and if you're lucky you'll have a luxurious and uncluttered hotel bathroom at hand, so relax and pamper yourself!

    A Note About Hair
If your hair is your pride and joy then chances are that you'll be used to a professional strength hairdryer. The problem is that the most powerful dual voltage hairdryer that we know of is 1600w, and hotel hairdryers are even worse, so what do you do? The Menda Utlimate Travel & Sports Towel will be your friend. Not designed as a hair towel but geeze it's a good one! It will slice your drying time to a fraction of what it would be without it.
